Version history
Earlier versions of what you make, kept on your computer, and a recovery file.
Seamside keeps earlier versions of what you make on your own computer, so you can try an idea and restore the last one if it doesn’t work out. A recovery file covers the other case: a computer that is lost.
Why it matters
- Change an app, a file or a whole space freely. The version before is still there.
- Nothing leaves your computer to be kept safe. The versions sit on your own disk.
How it works
- Every day, Seamside saves a version of everything in it on this computer. It keeps versions for 30 days, and never lets them fill more than 5% of the disk.
- A frame keeps its earlier versions every time it changes, whether you, Conjure or an agent made the change. Its page lists them under Version history.
- A file with earlier versions offers them on its ⋯ menu.
- In a space’s Settings, Save a version keeps the whole space as it is right now, under a name you give it.
- Restoring a version is a change like any other, so the members of a space see it, and whatever it replaced is kept first.
- Versions hold your files, never your keys. Those go in a recovery file locked with a passphrase you choose, the one way to bring your profile back on another computer.
Set it up
- Open Settings, then Backup.
- Under Version history, choose how many days to keep and how much of the disk to use.
- Under Recovery file, choose Download recovery file and keep the file and its passphrase somewhere safe.
